Why Does Society Allow Groups Of People To Think That They
Why does society allow groups of people to think that they are superior rather than equals? For hundreds and thousands of years, people have been fighting others for land and treated people wrongly because they feel entitled. Where does this sense of entitlement in humans come from? By examining the way blacks treated whites and how Andrew Carnegie treated his employees makes one wonder if they had a conscious. To have the ability to treat people so harshly, it makes one question everything. Andrew Carnegie may not have been a white supremacist; however, he treated his employees equally as awful as whites did to blacks during the 1800ââ¬â¢s and the true blame for this was society as a whole. 1. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to outline the key issues arising in the consideration from the governor of DKI Jakarta response to legalise prostitution in his territory. The Indonesian government has been criminalising prostitution based on the Book of the Criminal Justice Act (KUHP) regulation since more than 30 years ago, yet it did not make prostitution diminished and tends to increase the quantity of the prostitutes (Kenedi 2015). The current governor of DKI Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) believes that there should be some form of control over the sex industry (Wardhani 2015). He continues to say that decriminalising prostitution is meant to give the sex-workers a protection and safety reason while working. He left the farm where he was born when he was about ten years old and eventually settled in Minneapolis, Kansas, where he worked his way through high school. Following his graduation in 1894 from Iowa State College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts (now Iowa State University), Carver joined the college faculty and continued his studies, specializing in bacteriological laboratory work in systematic botany. In 1896 he became director of the Department of Agricultural Research at Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute (now Tuskegee University), where he began an exhaustive series of experiments with peanuts. In 1940 he donated all his savings to the establishment of the George Washington Carver Foundation at Tuskegee for research in natural science. Carver died at Tuskegee, on January 5, 1943. His birthplace was established as the George Washington Carver National Monument in 1943. .
